Stranger Minds – Monster (Single Review)

Moody Melancholic Rock served Italian Style

Our Music Discovery of this week. “Stranger Minds” is a new 5 piece alternative rock band from Italy featuring an eclectic mix of nationalities as diverse as Irish, English, and Italian. Lead singer Oisin Mccormack is from Ireland, Drummer Charlie Cope is from England while Guitarist Alessandro Cimini, Bassist Alberto Masetto and Alice Saracini on Synth are all Italians. This diversity results in a unique confluence of sounds which is very evident on their debut 5 track EP “King and Fool“, that apparently was two years in the making.

On their moody lead single “Monster“, Stranger Minds craft a slow-burning melancholic rock song, that takes a little while to pick steam but when it does, at around the 01.25 minute mark, it is fiercely glorious in those moments and ends with a satisfying flourish that should please the discerning rock fan.

We also couldn’t resist noticing how much of the song reminded us of the English rock band “Cult”, especially the Ian Astbury like vocals from their self titled 1994 6th studio album. Cmon, give Stanger Minds a try and you might just like them as much as we did.
